DEKUM APARTMENTS
The landscape for this four-story apartment building features a small private courtyard and an expansive public street frontage with wider than usual opportunity for planting. Oregon white oaks are the main street tree, and as they grow, their large canopy will shade the building and street and provide food and shelter for a wide variety of small birds and insects. Mounded planting along the streetscape includes penstemon, manzanita, deer grass, hummingbird fuchsia, creeping Oregon grape, wild iris, and wild lilac - all low maintenance and habitat-friendly West Coast natives that offer seasonal delight to people, and food to hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies.
